An April evening in Concarneau in southern Finistère. Sheltered in the peaceful bay 'Konk Kerne', meaning Bay of Cornwall in Breton, we walked along Les Sables Blancs as the sun set. I wondered about Concarneau's history of painting, and its connection with the Newlyn School of Art in Cornwall, where I used to live .... the idea of tracing the links between these two coastal art colonies still floats through my mind.
